MEET THE BOARD OF HUTCHINSON SALT CITY PRIDE

Julia Johnson (She/Her/Hers)

Co-Founder

Chairman of the Board

Julia has been a permanent resident of Hutchinson since 1984, but originally hails from Denver, CO.  She has been an activist in the community for almost 13 years, using her voice and platform to advocate for equality across the board.  Julia served as President of the local chapter of KEC, is a former columnist for The Hutchinson News, was the Co-Founder of HAEC, served as President for the local PFLAG, and is the C0-Founder of Hutchinson Salt City Pride.  She considers her family to be her greatest accomplishment and strives to create a better world for each of them.   Her guiding words have always been... "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." Martin Luther King Jr.

Gina Johnson (She/Her/Hers)

Co-Founder

Vice President

Gina Johnson "G" has been a permanent resident of Hutchinson since 1998 but is originally from Sedgwick Country.  By day she is metal worker and in home care provider.  But, by night she is a DJ , Drag King, and member of the Haus of Khanye.    She is a wife, mother, and friend to all.  Gina has always taken an active role in helping serve her city.  She has served on the boards of the local chapters of KEC, PFLAG, and is the C0-Founder of Hutchinson Salt City Pride.  Through the years Gina has donated her time and talents to may benefits throughout the state free of charge , even performing at other Pride Festivals.  The only thing she loves more than riding her motorcycle and music is her family.  The words that she feels guide her most are simple, but powerful... "The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.

Candie Khayne (She/Her/Hers)

Treasurer

By day, in her muggle life, she is known as a wife and mother running multiple small businesses. But, by night she straps on her corset and tutu and we know her as Candie Khayne, matriarch of the Khayne family and the original #ICTDiva!! She has been performing for over 6 years throughout Kansas, and you can catch her daily on Twitch, TikTok and Facebook as the mayor and CEO of ThePettyVille.  She has put Kansas on the map for AFAB Drag Queens and continues to break boundaries and drive positive change within our community. On top of being a member of the Hutchinson Salt City Pride Board and promoter for Kansas AAG, and owner/promoter for Mr. Gay Wichita ; the Khayne family is running a non-profit clothing closet out of their home, specializing in helping trans youth with clothing for their correct gender, foster children and homeless families with clothing and home necessities.

Trey'Von Smithkins (He/Him/His)

Secretary

Trey'Von, AKABlack Haze Khayne, patriarch of the Khayne Family is a proud Black and Hispanic Trans Man and Drag King. Black Haze and the Khayne Family run a non profit clothing closet out of their home, specializing in helping trans youth with clothing for their correct gender, foster children and needy families with clothing and home necessities. Black Haze strives to leave this world better than he found it, and is very honored to be here in Dodge City to celebrate Pride with you all.

Matt Cooke (He/Him/HIs)

Media Director

Hey, everyone, my name is Mat Cooke and I originally hail from Wichita.  I attended Butler Community College and am currently working in IT in Junction City for their school district. A job I am very passionate about. I am a true animal lover and live with my two dogs and cat. We enjoy spending lots of time together and snuggling. When I am not painting and stitching that is.  (Yes you read that right lol) Salt City Pride Inc. is an organization that I have found to be supportive of all marginalized communities and a pillar among our LGBTQIA+ community.   We are all beautiful inside and out. No matter your race, creed, sexual orientation, or gender identity. No matter who you are. It’s who we are! That’s what I care about and that’s why I’m here! I love you all! Thank you for being you. The true you. Thank you for your support and you are always welcome to reach out.  I look forward to this new challenge and to working with this amazing board!!!

Andrew Vincent Santy (He/Him/His)

Artistic Director

Say hello to our new Art Director: Andrew Santy! Andrew, [30] transmasc, hails from the ICT area–describing himself as a self-taught art goblin. Andrew has always been impassioned by stories, growing up with comic books and old Don Bluth animations. With a little discipline and no small measure of passion, he taught himself the ropes of graphic illustration and, now, pursues his dream job: sharing art with the world! “Making art is inherent to our humanity, [sometimes] we need a little help remembering our nature,” he says. He aspires to lead the community towards a more vibrant future–often offering his services to support local queer community events from groups like the Rowdy Ruff Pets, Leather HEART Family; using his expertise to call a beacon to organizations which spearhead education and community for both the LGBTQ+ and Kink. He looks forward to working with Hutchinson as we are with him!

The Many Faces Of Pride

MEET OUR OFFICIAL PRIDE MASCOT... OLLIE!!!

Ollie is a happy pug doggo who lives with his mom's Lara and Sara Crow and his canine, feline, and human siblings in Hutchinson, KS.  A mere few months after he was adopted from a farm on the Nebraska border, Ollie participated in his first-ever Pride event.  One of the most popular participants in our inaugural Unity March, he enjoyed his first front-page photo in the Hutchinson News.  From that moment on Ollie was unanimously dubbed the "Pride Mascot".  Ollie spends his time enjoying scritches, treats, car rides, and long naps.  He can often be found at Third Thursday events, the dog park, and anywhere else that his cute mug will get him love and affection.
